Dear our great patriarch, I hope this letter finds you well. I am an African youth writing this letter to you, with whom we share the same ancestry in Congo. I am here to inform you of the changes that have occurred to your motherland from the moment you left us.
Our great soul, I am happy to inform you that ten years after your departure, Africa began to regain her independence, and even your land Congo gained her independence led by the young vibrant son of the soil, Lumumba, with whom I am sure you are there together, watching what has become of us all. I am sure he narrated to you the situations that led to his unexpected arrival. I can attest that when you told us we shall chase the colonizer, it was not a facade, and you were not swallowing your words.
Our revered patron, in your absence, African states formed the Organisation of African Unity, which became the African Union. This organization was formed as a way of uniting all states, as you wished, but it seemed that at the time, we were not ripe for unity. Despite many disappointing things spoken about the AU, still, it has helped bring peace through dialogue to many parts by solving disputes. It also offers a common platform for Africans to address their issues globally. There is also a plan to have the largest market in the world by 2063 through AfCFTA, a single currency, and the same passport.
Our esteemed Guider, I am also pleased to inform you that despite the sufferings your followers faced under colonial authorities, still, they held firmly to your teachings, and right now, your ministry is thriving and flourishing well. You have also been recognized as a national hero of Congo in 2010, and in 2011, a great conference was held about your life, teachings, and contribution to the liberation of the black man.
I would be mistaken not to tell you of challenges threatening peaceful existence, which you had wanted for all Africans, and where else can I begin other than your place of birth, Congo. There, Bakongo people are being used to murder one another and cause destabilization to Congo. There is a government that seems to wield power in theory, but practically, power is with the M23 and over 100 rebel groups who have established a kingdom of torture, rape, slaughter, and murdering their fellow Africans. All this is happening just for multinational corporations to make phones and drive the 4th and 5th industrial revolution.
Our great seer, you foresaw that African leaders will rule under the guidance of colonial masters, but now they are more than that; they have become slaves even to upcoming imperial powers. If it's not through begging unnecessarily to the USA, it is to China; if not giving inflated contracts to Turkish companies, it's Chinese or Italian or Korean; if not having French troops on your soil, it's British or Russian mercenaries or the USA. Your land has become the base for imperialist militaries.
Kimbangu, you promised that you were sent to save the black race, but presently, there is no race humiliated more than the blacks in the world. Your race is even being discriminated against on African soil. The Nubia of Egypt constantly lives in fear from Arab invaders and has resorted to rearing crocodiles at home for protection! The blacks in Sudan are now being targeted in the ongoing civil war; blacks are even chased away and treated badly in most North African states. Even there was an ambassador who openly compared us to monkeys on your land!
Our defender, you warned us against going to the colonizers' land, as we shall return as corpses, but right now, the living conditions in your land have become unbearable for the majority of youths due to unemployment, corrupt leadership and wars. How are we to find prosperity in this situation? In addition to these, our leaders are encouraging us to go to the colonizers' land.
You warned us to be wary of the colonizers' motives, but right now, our leaders are quickly signing treaties that they themselves know nothing about. These treaties, we Africans suspect, will one day be a threat to the small independence we have and even be some hindrance to the progress of coming generations. Also, in your land, there is the establishment of schools of thought of other nations which even your fellow Africans are enrolling in and getting other nations' culture.
You told us not to abandon our culture, especially our ancestry, but right now, even the Baptist church you were taught in, now your fellow Africans are the preachers and are condemning our ancestry and encouraging us to detach from our kinship ties. We are being told that you, our forefathers, were backward, practiced dark magic and witchcraft, and hence you are suffering anguish as you await your condemnation to hell. Dear patron, are you really suffering?
I can write pages and pages to update you on the present occurrences in your motherland, but great prophet, I wish to stop before the pain of what's happening to your race overwhelms me. Sometimes, I wonder what could happen if you hadn't warned us because even after warning us, things are unfolding the same way you warned us. Great prophet, you promised to be the savior of Africans, not that I don't believe you, but for how long will we be pawns in other nations' plans? For how long will we keep killing each other to satisfy the present global economy? What will be the need for Africa to be united if nobody shall be there to enjoy the fruits of a united nation?
Conditions are running out of hand, despair is creeping in, secession movements are beginning to arise, when then, if not now, for you to liberate Africa?
